Most chiropractic doctors utilize traditional or standard methods of treatment to restore alignment to your spine and alleviate painful conditions. While those methods are certainly satisfactory, Chiropractic BioPhysics (CBP®) takes pain identification and healing even further.
What Is Chiropractic BioPhysics?
CBP® is a science-based, highly advanced chiropractic technique which has proven to correct and restore spinal alignment. Dr. Gubbels is one of only a few CBP-Certified Doctors of Chiropractic in Colorado, and one of only a few dozen in the United States.
Chiropractic BioPhysics combines the studies of anatomy, biology, physiology, physics, and geometry to properly pinpoint the causes of your chronic pain, loss of mobility, discomfort, and other ongoing health issues. So what does that mean for you?

First of all, we're talking about corrective care. We have to distinguish what that is compared to traditional chiropractic care. I think one of the great things about corrective care and what sets it apart is it's predictable. The results are predictable. It's reproducible, and they are measurable.
One of the things I distinguish with patients when they come in is, first of all, what's the goal of care? Is it just to get out of pain? Or do we want to fix what's going on? What's the long-term goal of people? People come to see me, and I'm always thinking, what am I actually going to do for this patient that's going to make a difference for them long-term in their life.
When most people come in, they have some initial complaint or problem we definitely want to handle. But beyond that, we want to know why did this happen in the first place? And what are we going to do to actually address and correct why it happened? And then, more importantly, once it's actually fixed or corrected, what are we going to do to show the patient how to keep this fixed so it doesn't happen again?
I do something called Chiropractic Biophysics. It's the most researched chiropractic and corrective technique out there. And this is a whole different level of knowledge and evaluation that goes on with the patient. Everything we do is very clear, and it's very cut and dry, and what's going on, and how we're going to go about correcting it.
It's not just adjustments. It involves doing some rehab in the office before you get adjusted to get the spine properly loosened up so the adjustments go better. And then afterwards, we actually do specific rehab to fully correct and restore all the tissues that hold the spine together, back to normal.
Once something's corrected, that's when we maintain it. Most people are interested in maintenance or wellness, but a way to look at it is, what do you want to maintain? Do you just want to get something where there's a little less pain and maintain it when it's still not fixed, or do you actually want to correct something, and then once it's fully corrected, maintain that?
The kind of care we do is very predictable because through all the research, we know what different kinds of spinal problems, we know which kinds of rehab, which kind of adjustments, which kinds of therapies or traction will work best for each individual problem.
It's measureable in the sense that...if we're going to measure posture, we take a pre and post posture evaluation so that the patient can actually see what's changed.
If we have to take an x-ray, we can take a pre and post x-ray with a very high tech digital analysis that gives the patient a report that shows them exactly how much change has actually happened. So, when we're starting off, it's like, well, here's where we are, here's where we're going, here's where we're measuring to know that we've gotten there. Then, once we get it there, this is what you, the patient, has to do to keep it there.

How Is CBP® Different from Other Chiropractic Care Techniques?
We’re invested in your ongoing wellness. Standard chiropractic care typically focuses on immediate pain relief. However, the main goal of Chiropractic BioPhysics is to start with your symptoms, relieve your pain, and correct the source of your pain and related health issues. What’s even better – many patients who come to Dr. Gubbels find that as we correct their posture issues, other health conditions tend to improve – or even disappear – as well.
CBP® helps restore the structure of your spine and overall balance to your body. As we age, our bodies become increasingly affected by poor posture habits, gravity, current and past injuries, disease, and improper physical activity. All of these issues contribute to spinal misalignment, which then can cause other health issues.
Some health conditions can be improved by proper spinal alignment:
- Acid reflux
- Ear infections
- High blood pressure
- Headaches, migraines
- Gastrointestinal issues
- Back and Neck pain
- Leg pain
- Arm pain
- Sleep disorders
- CBP® for Lifelong Health
If one thing is off kilter in your spine, it can create a domino effect in your body. Your spine is the central part of your body’s operations, including your entire central nervous system that leads directly from your brain and spine to every organ and extremity of your body. Your central nervous system is responsible for your body’s communications and maintenance of other body systems, including your digestive system, cardiovascular system, muscles, organs, mobility, and sexual function.
Through CBP® techniques, Dr. Gubbels is able to transform postural irregularities into optimal posture and spinal alignment. During this process, we’ll keep track of both your improvement and your results.
We’ll also take the time to create a personal plan for your ongoing wellness. Dr. Gubbels understands that each person is unique, so every health plan is customized for our patients’ individual needs. Through proper alignment, pain relief, and improved bodily function, you’ll find yourself enjoying everyday life once again.
How many chiropractic visits are required for CBP®?
Most patients will find an average of 36 office visits over a three-month period are necessary to correct spinal subluxations that are causing chronic pain or other health issues. Remember, your health conditions and pain have occurred gradually over an extended period of time, so it will take some time to also fix any abnormalities. Many of our patients experience a 75-80% improvement in their chronic pain conditions.
